Een heerlijke melkkoffie at home is gelukkig niet alleen weggelegd voor de gelukkigen die thuis een espressomachine met goede stoomfunctie hebben staan. Er zijn verschillende manieren waarmee je relatief makkelijk verbazingwekkend mooie melk voor je koffie kan maken, gewoon vanuit je eigen keuken. Niet helemaal hetzelfde als gestoomde melk met een espressomachine natuurlijk, maar zeker een goed alternatief. Onze favoriet: melk schuimen met een French Press, of een cafetière.
WAT HEB IK NODIG?
HOE MAAK IK ZO’N GESCHUIMD MELKJE MET EEN FRENCH PRESS?
STAP 1 – VOORBEREIDING
Vul je pannetje met een laagje melk.
STAP 2 – MELK OPWARMEN
Zet het pannetje met melk op een warmtebron en verwarm tot 60 °C. Meet dit met je thermometer (zodat je de melk niet kapot maakt, meer hierover bij MELK, in de brew school)
STAP 3 – FOAM IT
Giet de opgewarmde melk in de French Press of cafetière, vul tot ongeveer 1/3e. Doe de deksel erop en beweeg de plunger op en neer in de melk. Dit hoeft niet heel vaak en heel wild: zo’n 10 keer rustig op en neer is voldoende voor een prima schuimlaagje.
STAP 4 – WALSEN
Giet de geschuimde melk vanuit de cafetière in je melkkannetje en walsen maar: deze roterende beweging met het melkkannetje zorgt ervoor dat je melk en schuim goed mengen. Sla eventueel de grote bellen uit de melk (zie MELK STOMEN).
STAP 5 – SCHENKEN
Schenk een klein gedeelte van het lobbige schuim weg, wals nog een keer en prepare voor latte art!
